Quincy Herald Whig http://qui.live.mediaspanonlinen.com/rss/ Quincy Herald Whig en-us First quarter recap At first glance, it appeared that QND was setting itself up for another track meet.Neither offense made any mistakes during the first three possessions, with Montini’s Michala Johnson scoring on two layups and QND getting a basket from Karlee Gengenbacher. Then fatigue set in.The Lady Raiders missed five consecutive shots and the Lady Broncos missed their first two 3-point attempts one day after missing their first fifteen shots beyond the arc.During the three-minute scoring drought, both teams made mass substitutions to give their reserves a chance for some playing time. But it was up to Gengenbacher, the lone starter left on the floor for the Lady Raiders, to end the scoring drought with a free throw, cutting into a 4-3 deficit. Both teams picked up the intensity during the final three minutes of the quarter, but neither could find the groove they were looking for. In the final 15 seconds, QND picked up four offensive rebounds but couldn’t come away with any more points. The Lady Raiders didn’t realize it at the time, but a 2-2 tie less than one minute into the game was the closest the team would get.—Herald-Whig Staff http://qui.live.mediaspanonline.com/new_story/3-2-First-Quarter-Wrap
