Quincy Herald Whig http://qui.live.mediaspanonlinen.com/rss/ Quincy Herald Whig en-us Local pilot killed in airplane crash RUSHVILLE, Ill. -- A Rushville native known for building and piloting of riverboats was killed Monday when his amateur-built, experimental single-engine plane crashed near Brodhead, Wis. He was the only person on the plane. The crash remains under investigation. Dennis "Denny" Ray Trone, 77, of Petersburg, Ill., was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:07 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be Saturday in the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. A U.S. Navy Academy graduate and nine-year Navy veteran, Trone is survived by his wife and five children. Trone and his brother, Robert "Moon" Trone bought the Dubuque Boat and Boiler Co., and many boats were built including the Talisman, Twilight and the steamboat Julia Belle Swain built in 1971, which was the last steamer built in Dubuque and is one of five still in operation. It is now based in LaCrosse, Wis.
