General Manager Jim Thompson highlighted changes in three rates affecting most cooperative members: * The standard base rate, which covers over 90 percent of the membership, will see its facility charge increase $13 a month, to $35 from $22, while the energy charge remains the same. The facility charge covers the cost of making service available -- poles, wires, transformers, fuses, tree trimming and spraying. * The electric heat rate, which covers over 2,000 members, will rise from 4.6 to 6 cents per kilowatt hour, or an average increase of $14 a month, but Thompson said it still continues to be the best alternative for heating homes compared with natural gas or propane. http://qui.live.mediaspanonline.com/new_story/adams-rates-box
