Someday I won't pick out his clothes ...

As I'm going through my son's clothes to pick out outfits for the upcoming week, I begin to ponder how long I will be doing this. Then I think of some of the adult men in my life.

The stolen bike

A few weeks ago, my 9-year-old son had his bike stolen from school. It was a Trek that he had received from his grandparents for Christmas. He was heartbroken ... well, once it sunk in.

Virtual reality

Actual conversation: I could totally kill a wolf. ... No way. You're not good enough to kill a wolf. ... Oh. Well if this was real life, then I could totally kill a wolf, or a bear. ... Well, yeah. You just can't kill them in this game. ... Apparently we've been gaming too long in the virtual world.

St. Nicholas Day

Every year we celebrate St. Nicholas Day, which is Dec. 6. We put our boots out on the evening of Dec. 5 with cookies, milk and maybe some carrots for the reindeer. Kid fights and movie nights

I just got off the phone with someone who described one of my kids as wonderfully expressive. Unfortunately, the child is drawn to trouble and occasionally expresses herself with her fists. Rarely does she start the tomfoolery, but often she finishes it.

Operation Hide Shorts

We've all been putting it off, but the time has come. It's time for the seasonal wardrobe change. It's November and I don't care if we do have the odd day that hits 70, it's fall and we're going to act like it. Wear some pants and act like you've got a mother who loves you!
