Joe has been with the Quincy Herald-Whig for 15 years. Joe was born and raised in Quincy and has 6 brothers and sisters spread across the U.S. He is married and has one child in the fourth grade. He enjoys swimming, golf, softball, tennis and many other things he can't find time for. One of his favorite things to do is travel. He has several in-laws in Beijing and gets to visit with them every couple of years, most recently during the 2008 Olympics and in 2010 at the World's Fair in Shanghai. Due to all of these travels, Joe finds himself an avid photographer — not good, but avid.

Therapy dog knows just what Baldwin students need
Cooper heads down the hallway in Baldwin West for another day of school. He's focused. He's friendly. He's furry. Cooper, a golden doodle, is teacher Erin Armbruster's trained therapy dog, and his pawprints reach beyond just her classroom. "He helps out the students. He's a very good dog," fifth-grader Myles Cain said.
