To The Herald-Whig:
Daniel Musholt presents some interesting ideas about what role government should play in our lives. It's too bad that we don't live in the world that Mr. Musholt envisions.
We live in the real world where the greedy will take advantage of their fellow man and will exploit that situation to the fullest. One has seen what happens with Wall Street, big banks, oil companies and other corporations when there are few restraints thanks to deregulations.
You only need to go back 100 years in history to see what exploitation of workers occurred before there were unions and labor laws to protect workers and children against greedy and corrupt bosses and factory owners of that time.
Just working hard won't get you up the ladder if there is someone above that can kick you in the face and knock you back down and pick your pocket as you are falling.
I agree that we should rein in spending, but not at the expense of the middle class and retirees while the wealthy pay little or no taxes. The system is rigged against the working class and the far right, including the tea party, show no interest in changing the status quo.
