Thefts, burglaries

A Georgia man has his Coach brand, black leather wallet taken while at 20th and Oak on June 9. The wallet contained six cards, identification and an insurance card.

A New Hartford, Mo., man had his 2002 Cadillac entered while it was parked at Amtrak station at 2914 Wismann Lane between June 3-5. An envelope with miscellaneous papers was taken.

    Felicia Powell and her husband, Richard, have been converting the former elementary school and Quincy Park District headquarters at 1310 Washington into the Emerson Garden Apartments.     It was a very good year for the Adams County Fair. A combination of cooler-than-usual July weather, coupled with popular attractions and continued physical improvements to the fairgrounds, pushed the estimated fair attendance past 50,000 people. Veteran directors said that figure is believed to be the highest since 1990, when budding country music superstar Garth Brooks -- who was 27 at the time -- performed at the fairgrounds.

    The United Way of Adams County has established a record $1.25 million goal for its 78th annual campaign. Campaign chairman Chris Niemann made the announcement Thursday morning during a news conference at Upper Moorman Park. Niemann emphasized the United Way's impact in the areas of advancing education, income and health in Adams County.
