Mercantile Bank, as trustee of the C. Dorothy Bader Trust, is awarding 12 scholarships to students who attended Quincy Senior High School and Quincy Notre Dame High School.
Students were selected by a scholarship committee at their school and approved by the president of Mercantile Bank and the superintendent of Quincy Pubic Schools. Each scholarship recipient will receive approximately $330 to be used for first-year college tuition.
Bader was a Quincy resident who died Sept. 21, 1956. She was a graduate of Quincy High School and Gem City Business College. She served as a faculty member of Gem City Business College for 37 years.
The winners are: Jessica Bagby, daughter of Reva Walker and Gerald Bagby, will attend Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa; Andre Givens, son of Gloria Perkins, will attend Millikin University in Decatur; Grace Holthaus, daughter of Barb Holthaus, will attend Truman State Univeristy in Kirksville, Mo.; Kendal Kendrick, son of Barb Crist, will attend University of Wisconsin-Platteville, in Platteville Wis.; Alyssa Klene, daughter of Thomas and Anne Klene, will attend St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa; Jane Morrison, daughter of Ben and Evelyn Morrison, will attend Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa; Alec Oshner, son of Teresa Oshner, will attend Iowa State University in Ames,; Anthony Rittof, son of Paul and Pam Rittof, will attend University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas; Angela Shupe, daughter of Kathy Shupe, will attend University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Urbana; Kallie Tenney, daughter of Brenda Tenney, will attend Columbia College-Chicago, in Chicago; Jasmine Thompson, daughter of James and Carolina Thompson, will attend Loyola University-Chciago, in Chicago; and Emily Viar, daughter of Larry and Debbie Viar, will attend John Wood Community College in Quincy.
