Why are there no price controls?

To The Herald-Whig:

The prices of food, clothing and all other needed goods are outrageous to the extent of leaving one bankrupt.

Why does this continue without any attention from the government? Why is there no price control and yet, they are complaining about the economy being such a disaster? This is a big part of the problem. Open your eyes and pay attention, please.
