ST. PATRICK, Mo. -- Organizers of the annual celebration in St. Patrick, Mo., are accepting registrations through Monday for four-person teams in the March 17 festival's first Irish road bowling tournament.
The game is being described by organizers as "golfing with a cannonball" and is scored accordingly, with one teammate throwing the ball and the other three marking its desired path.
The field of play will be Mo. 81 just south of the Shrine of St. Patrick. The tournament will run rain or shine.
The team fee is $10, which can be paid the day of the event, and includes all essential equipment, including the ball, scorecard and chalk.
Teams are encouraged to dress in green or wear other spring regalia, and they are welcome to bring their own beverages and rolling coolers.
Check-in the day of the event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Old Irish Gift Shoppe in the St. Patrick post office. Play begins at 10 a.m.
To register, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with names and contact information by Monday.
