Austin Hampton, 16, killed in car accident Saturday

A 16-year-old was killed in a one-vehicle traffic crash at 1:17 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in the 700 block of Ben Lomond in Hannibal, Mo.

According to a news release, Hannibal police responded to the scene and found a 2001 Saturn in a wooded area, east of the road. The vehicle had reportedly rolled away from a driveway. Austin Hampton was the lone passenger in the vehicle.

Hampton was transported from the scene by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital, and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The accident remains under investigation.
