    Gov. Pat Quinn has announced a $60 million capital investment to complete the Center for Performing Arts at Western Illinois University. Bids will be opened in late summer, with construction work scheduled to start in early 2015. The project is one of the largest in the Illinois Jobs Now! program and will support hundreds of local jobs.

    Quincy aldermen will have to reconsider the one-year contract with the bargaining unit representing city firefighters.In an interview Wednesday, Moore confirmed that eight votes are needed to ratify the contract, one more than seven votes cast in favor of the contract Monday night.
