Prep notebook: QHS volleyball team climbs national rankings

The Quincy High School volleyball team made a big leap up the charts in this week's MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national rankings.

The Blue Devils (17-0) came in at No. 15 this week, up 10 spots from their debut position last week. QHS, which plays at O'Fallon on Wednesday, is one of two Illinois teams in the poll. Benet Academy (12-0) of Lisle, Ill., is ranked No. 12.

Papillion-LaVista South of Papillion, Neb., maintained its position atop the poll. The Titans are 15-0.

C-SE climbs, Chargers join poll: The Central-Southeastern football team continues to climb The Associated Press rankings for Illinois Class 2A football. Meanwhile, Illini West debuted in the poll this week.

The Panthers (5-0) claimed the No. 5 position, up from No. 8 last week. Illini West (4-1) was positioned No. 7 in Class 2A. Quincy Notre Dame (3-2) received votes in Class 4A.

In Missouri, Hannibal and Clark County didn't budge in the polls. The Pirates (5-0) tied for sixth in Class 4, after taking the No. 6 position last week. Clark County (5-0) remained No. 5 in Class 2. South Shelby (3-2) received votes in Class 1 but wasn't ranked.
