John and Phyllis Bracey of 17845 310th Ave., Canton, Mo., marked their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Saturday at their farm home.
The couple was married Oct. 19, 1952, in the Methodist church in San Jose.
Mrs. Bracey is the former Phyllis Drake, daughter of the late Jonathan and Leona Drake. Mr. Bracey is a son of the late Ted and Anna Bracey.
They are the parents of Laurie Jones and Eric and Stewart Bracey of Canton. They have 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bracey was employed by Quincy Soybean for 27 years, retiring in 1994. He farms west of Canton. He is a retired president of the Lewis County Fair board and is director of the North East Community Action Corp. board.
Mrs. Bracey was employed for 18 years by the city of Canton as a water plant operator, retiring in 1994. She has been employed by Canton R-5 School for 14 years, working in food service.
They have been members of Trinity United Church of Christ in Quincy for the past 50 years, where they are elders and served as ushers and on the consistory. They are also members of the Fireside Club and were community leaders of the Ten Mile 4-H of the Canton-LaGrange area for 20 years. The Braceys, along with their family, have been involved in the 4-H program for more than 30 years. In 2010, they were inducted into the Missouri 4-H Foundation Hall of Fame. They also were awarded the Naomi Crouch Award that year.
The couple met at a square dance in Mason City in 1950.
