Joe and Janice Benjamin

Joe and Janice Benjamin of Bowen will be honored for their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 in Bowen Christian Church, hosted by their children. Family and friends are invited.

Mr. Benjamin and the former Janice Adkins were married Nov. 10, 1962, in Immaculate Conception Church rectory.

Mrs. Benjamin is a daughter of the late Evelyn Morton and Wayne Adkins of Dallas City. Mr. Benjamin is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Benjamin of Pontoosuc.

They are the parents of Angie (Ron) Byrd and Annette (George) Toolate, all of Loraine, and Joe Benjamin of Rogersville, Mo. They have seven grandchildren.

Mr. Benjamin retired from Harris Broadcast in Quincy after 25 years of service. He was Silver Dollar City's resident pen and ink artist for 15 years until his retirement in 2007.

Mrs. Benjamin, a homemaker, had been employed by Motorola and Harris Broadcast. She worked with her husband at Silver Dollar City, adding color to his pen and ink art.

They are members of Bowen Christian Church.

The couple was introduced by a friend in Pontoosuc.
