Josh Rizzo

Josh Rizzo joined The Herald-Whig as a sports writer in November 2012 after spending 18 months working in the sports department of the Kirksville (Mo.) Daily-Express. He also worked for one of the satellite papers of the Pittsburgh News-Gazette as a stringer while in college.

He is responsible for coverage of Quincy Notre Dame basketball, with a priority on prep sports coverage throughout the school year.

Josh is a graduate of Slippery Rock University, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and a diehard Steelers and Pirates fan.

Tony Baker recently watched a video of the 1991 Class A state championship game with his 11-year-old daughter. It had been several years since Baker, an all-stater as a senior at Pittsfield High School, had seen the game. "I sure was awful skinny, and those shorts were awful short," he said with a laugh. "But it was neat to watch. It's kind of a blur, but I can remember plays that were called in every game. It's so surreal."
