NEW LONDON, Mo. -- Bross Construction of Hannibal has been awarded a $1.46 million contract to resurface U.S. 61 from just south of Mo. 19 at New London to Route UU in Pike County near Bowling Green.

The nearly 12-mile project will begin next spring, with driving lanes and shoulders of both northbound and southbound U.S. 61 resurfaced with 1.5 inches of asphalt. The work is scheduled for completion by next fall.

U.S. 61, which is part of the Avenue of the Saints (Route 27) between St. Louis and St. Paul, Minn., will remain open at all times, but will be restricted to one lane at times.
