Clester and Ralph Lewis Jr.

Clester A. and Ralph M. Lewis Jr. of Farmington, Mich., were honored for their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception Sept. 1 in the Quincy Elks Lodge, hosted by their children and family. The couple also renewed their wedding vows.

They were married Sept. 22, 1962, in their hometown of Quincy.

Mrs. Lewis is a daughter of the late Roy and Mary Bell Parker. Mr. Lewis is a son of the late Ralph M. Lewis Sr. and the late Sylvia Dade.

They are the parents of Sylvia Tillman of Farmington and Roger Lewis of Apopka, Fla. They have four grandchildren.

Mr. Lewis retired from Ohana House as a social worker in mental health and drug abuse counseling for 15 years.

Mrs. Lewis was a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools for 20 years before her retirement.

They enjoy volunteering, working with children in schools, building robots, traveling and visiting family and friends.

Cooper, a golden doodle, is teacher Erin Armbruster's trained therapy dog, and his pawprints reach beyond just her classroom. "He helps out the students. He's a very good dog," fifth-grader Myles Cain said.
