A seventh person has picked up nominating petitions for the April 9 Quincy School Board elections.

Otis Pleasant of 1303 Peach Tree Lane picked up petitions this week. Pleasant was an unsuccessful candidate for School Board in the April 2005 and April 2007 elections. He serves on the School Board's Policy Committee.

This means seven individuals have now taken out petitions -- in addition to School Board member Scott Stone, who is not up for election at this time. Stone picked up three sets of petitions last month but did not indicate who they were for, according to Phyllis Stewart, the board's secretary, who oversees the distribution of petitions.

Other individuals who picked up petitions previously were: Michael A. Connell of 317 N. 13th, Apt. 1; Rich Jones of 5402 Esther Ave.; Jamie Foster of 1222 Chestnut; Ronnie McKenzie of 1213 N. Eighth; Richard McNay of 7007 N. 12th; and Alan Nichols of 1017 Abbey Ridge.

Petitions for the April 2013 elections must be filed at the Board of Education office during the statewide filing period, which goes from 7:30 a.m. Dec. 17 through 5 p.m. Dec. 24.

Three seats will be available on the Quincy School Board. The terms of Bill Daniels, Steve Krause and Tom Dickerson are expiring.
