Area Roundup: Frericks scores career-high 34 in QND's win

Senior Jordan Frericks scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Quincy Notre Dame girls basketball team to a 82-43 win over West Hancock Monday in Hamilton. Frericks added 10 rebounds.

QND led 52-17 at halftime. Kassidy Gengenbacher added 11 points for QND (1-0).

Alexis Dooley scored 13 points for West Hancock (0-1).

Marion County 54, Brashear 18: Senior Kaelyn Spratt scored a career-high 26 points for the Lady Mustangs.

Marion County (1-0) led Brashear (0-1) 37-7 at halftime.

Liberty-Payson 37, Triopia 27: Maranda Neisen scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Lady Eagles (4-0).

Liberty and Triopia were tied at 23 after the third quarter when the Lady Eagles used an early 3-pointer from Lanessa Graham in the fourth quarter to pull away from Triopia.

Kristen Loos had a game-high five steals and Graham added four assists. Madelyn Hyer scored seven points to go with eight rebounds.  

"Our shots started to fall in the fourth quarter," Liberty coach Brad Bergman said. "They started fouling at the end and we made our free throws."

Unity 52, BPCA 25: The Lady Mustangs (2-0) held BCPA to five points in the second half to earn a win. Unity was led by Brooklyn Moore, who had 15 points and five rebounds, and Breanne Begeman, who finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Brown County 61, Griggsville-Perry 32: Vanessa Markert scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Lady Hornets (1-1) past the Lady Tornadoes. Alyson Bingham scored 21 points to lead Griggsville-Perry (0-3).

Central-Southeastern 46, Lewistown 28: Madison Steinkamp (11 points), Erin Flesner (11), Torie Conover (10) scored in double figures to lead the Lady Panthers (1-0) to a win.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL


Hannibal-LaGrange 63, Central Christian 46: Maddy Cunningham scored a team-high 11 points, while Cassidy Trenhaile added 10 points to lead the Lady Trojans to a win at home.

HLGU led by as many as 32 in the first the half. The Lady Trojans shot 43 percent from the field and outrebounded Central Christian 38-18.
