Adams County man nominated for Lincoln Academy student award

Gentry Ideus of Golden, has been nominated for the 2012 Illinois Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Award.

The Lincoln Academy of Illinois presents this award annually for overall excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities to seniors from four-year, degree granting institutions in Illinois and to only one individual from all the community colleges. To be nominated a student must have completed 28 credit hours of course and maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Ideus is involved in John Wood Community College Student Government Association and a member the Alpha Tau Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. While attending JWCC he passed the federal and state Series 6, Series 63, life and health insurance exams. Ideus, the son of Gary and Robin Ideus, is a 2011 graduate of Camp Point Central High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. He placed first in the FBLA Illinois State Competition Emerging Business.

Cooper, a golden doodle, is teacher Erin Armbruster's trained therapy dog, and his pawprints reach beyond just her classroom. "He helps out the students. He's a very good dog," fifth-grader Myles Cain said.
