A large portion of the roof at the Oakley-Lindsay Center is scheduled to be replaced before the first of the year.

The Quincy Civic Center Authority on Wednesday reviewed the roofing project. Goerlich Roofing of Quincy will replace 15,000 square feet of roof over Kent Hall, several areas over and around the mechanical room, and a small section of the lower roof section. The $57,000 project will be paid with bond funds.

In October, the board agreed to allow Ebbing to seek bids and have a new roof installed over that portion of the OLC roof.

Rob Ebbing, the executive director of the OLC, said the roof would be finished before the first of the year, weather permitting. The new roof will have a 20-year warranty.

In other business Wednesday, the authority approved several budget transfers to make sure spending doesn't exceed projections. Money was transferred from line items that did not exceed projections. Most involved the Quincy Gems.

Chairman Hubert Staff said he believed spending more than budgeted line items was against authority policy. The authority is supposed to approve increasing budget lines before any additional funds are spent.

"It's a very hectic time, and sometimes we forget to look at the budget items when we're trying to run the operations," Ebbing said. "So we'll sit down and start doing some monthly analyzing to make sure we are within the budget line items."

The board also received the audit for fiscal 2012.

Authority member Jim Rinella, who chairs the Finance Committee, said he believed many of the issues mentioned in the audit have been addressed since the authority hired a part-time accountant.

Ebbing also told the board that the OLC's outdoor show set for the end of January picked up KHQA as a partner. OLC staff hopes to attract businesses that will display campers, ATVs, motorcycles, lawn and garden tractors, boats, sporting equipment and other outdoor products.
