Lady Eagles earn PCC Tournament championship

MadelynHyer scored 13 of her game-high 19 points in the second half to helpthe Liberty-Payson girls basketball team win its third straight PikeCounty Conference Tournament championship with a 69-36 victory overWestern Wednesday night at Liberty, Ill.

The Lady Eagles led 32-27at halftime before Hyer and Maranda Neisen combined to score 19third-quarter points as Liberty stretched its lead to 55-31.

Neisenfinished with 18 points, while Kristen Loos added 10 for the LadyEagles (5-0). Neisen grabbed 15 rebounds and Hyer had 10boards.

Loren Melton scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats andRachel Motley added 10.

In the first game, Brussels took adouble-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a61-32 victory over Griggsville-Perry.

The Raiders led 19-9 afterthe first quarter and 33-13 at halftime. Alyson Bingham led the LadyTornadoes with 17 points.
