College Roundup: Strong second-half start keys Lady Blazers' victory

The John Wood Community College women's basketball team scored the first 10 points of the second half to pull away for a 60-46 victory over the Hannibal-LaGrange University junior varsity Wednesday night at the Student Activity Center.

Ashlyn Fore's free throw capped off the run which covered the opening 4:52 of the half.

The Lady Blazers took their biggest lead of the game when Alicia George drained a 12-footer to make the score 52-37 with 2:50 left in the game.

Fore came off the bench to lead JWCC (3-4) with 13 points and eight rebounds, while George added 11 points.

Winkler led HLGU with 15 points.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Lindenwood-Belleville 97, HLGU 67: The Trojans shot 31 percent in the second half in a non-conference loss at Belleville, Ill.

HLGU trailed 48-39 at halftime before going 10 of 32 from the field for the rest of the game. Arii Meuel led the Trojans (1-6) with 16 points and Tony Ardison added 10.
