Centralia woman, 82, injured in accident in Monroe County

A Centralia driver was injured at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday in a fiery one-car accident on Mo. 151, seven miles south of Madison in Monroe County.

Edythe J. Wood, 82, was taken by Monroe County Ambulance to the University Medical Center in Columbia for treatment of minor injuries.

A 2008 Buick Lucerne was southbound when it failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the right side of the highway, struck a post, overturned and caught fire, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Wood was wearing a seat belt.

Also assisting were the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and Monroe County Fire Department.
