It's beginning to look like Christmas with downtown window contest

The Historic Quincy Business District will take on a seasonal look in coming days thanks to a new downtown Christmas window decorating contest.

"This is a fun way to get people downtown throughout the season, as well as make downtown look more festive during this wonderful time of year," HQBD Executive Director Travis Brown said in a press release. "We are happy to have the participating businesses and eager to hear the public's feedback on their displays. This year's theme is ‘A German Christmas,' and we encourage everyone to vote for the window that best uses the theme."

Participating businesses are Chiropractic Clinic of Quincy, Consignors Depot, Dame Hurdle and Company, District Designs, Expressions by Christine, Granite Bank Gallery, Krazy Cakes, O'Griff's Grill and Brewhouse, Quincy's Most Wanted, Silhouette Shoppe and the Sweet Apricot Shop.

Anyone can vote in any of the participating businesses, as well as online at The winner will receive an HQBD prize package for the business and the employees. Voting already is under way and continues through Dec. 19. The winner will be announced Dec. 21.
