HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Senior Ashley Wilson made two free throws with one second remaining to give the Hannibal-LaGrange University women's basketball team to a 53-50 victory over John Brown Friday night at Porter Gym.

It was the second win in as many days for HLGU, which improves to 6-4 overall. John Brown falls to 4-7.

Wilson grabbed her fifth double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Ashleigh Spencer led all scorers with 22 points and nine boards.

HLGU was ahead 27-19 at halftime and grabbed its largest lead, 32-21, after a 3-pointer by Kara Glor two minutes into the half.

The Trojans went ahead by 11 with 16:35 remaining after a three-point play by Wilson.

The Golden Eagles used a 13-0 run to take the lead with 12:04 remaining, but a basket by Glor ended the drought for HLGU and tied the game at 37.

The game was tied six more times from there on before two free throws by Wilson put HLGU ahead for good.

HLGU shot 41 percent from the field and held a 36-25 rebounding edge.

The Trojans defense limited John Brown to 25 percent shooting in the first half and 33 percent for the game.

Silver Saukees: Pittsfield's state title team to reunite after 25 years
Tony Baker recently watched a video of the 1991 Class A state championship game with his 11-year-old daughter. It had been several years since Baker, an all-stater as a senior at Pittsfield High School, had seen the game. "I sure was awful skinny, and those shorts were awful short," he said with a laugh. "But it was neat to watch. It's kind of a blur, but I can remember plays that were called in every game. It's so surreal."
