Scouting the Pirates: After finishing undefeated in North Central Missouri Conference play last season, Hannibal lost to Kirksville 51-48 in its conference opener Tuesday. It's been a tough start for the Pirates, who won 19 games and were district runners-up last season. Dalton Powell, Dylan Powell and Eric Hugenberg have provided Hannibal with punch on offense. All three players are averaging over 10 points per game, but Hannibal's defense hasn't been able to get the key stops needed to earn wins.
Tough stretch: Hannibal has lost its last nine games to QND.
Looking back: Alex Fitch capped off a 30-point performance with a 3-pointer with 45 seconds remaining to give the Raiders a 55-54 win over Hannibal last season.
