Advent series: Trinity Church, South 24th Street and Cherry Lane, is beginning a new worship series for the holiday season. Based on the iconic Christmas film, "It's a Wonderful Life," Pastor Tim White will help worshipers move from the hassles and headaches of the season to the peace and joy of Christmas. Utilizing video clips from the movie "It's a Wonderful Life," scriptures from the Christmas story and brief monologues by "characters" from the movie, worship is designed to refocus us on the miracle we celebrate: Dec. 23, It's a Wonderful Life … Trust in it! Dec. 24, It's a Wonderful Life …Treasure it! The worship series will be offered at the 8:30 a.m. traditional service and the 10:30 a.m. alternative/contemporary service. Nursery care is available for children 5 years old and younger at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Christmas Eve service: Trinity Episcopal Church will have a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church, Fourth and Bird in Hannibal, Mo. A special highlight will be Dr. Steven Cockrell on trumpet, accompanying Trinity's organ. For information, call (573) 221-0298.

Musical: A Kids for Christ Christmas musical, "The Legacy of Love," will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 2020 S. 24th in Quincy. Performance: Grandview Church will present "The Story," about the birth of Jesus, at 6 p.m. Sunday, at the church, 1019 Cedar in Quincy. For information, call (217) 223-2504.

Birthday party: Unity of Quincy will be host of a "Global Birthday Party" from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 22 at Granite Bank Gallery, 428 Maine in Quincy.
