COATSBURG, Ill. -- A 24-year-old Quincy woman suffered minor injuries in a two-car accident at 6:05 a.m. Friday in Coatsburg.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department reported that a 2012 Ford Escape driven by Marvin W. Martin, 71, of Camp Point, was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Liberty Street and U.S. 24 when he tried to cross U.S. 24. He was hit by an eastbound 2006 Kia Spectra driven by Brittany A. Jones.

Police said Jones tried to stop her vehicle but slid on the icy pavement. Jones was taken by Adams County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital. Martin was not injured.

Assisting was the Central Adams Fire Protection District.
