Five injured in Hannibal two-car accident

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Five people, including four teens, were injured at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday when a car and van collided on Route MM and Veterans Road in Hannibal.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2007 Pontiac G6 driven by Chelisa A. Deere, 18, of Hannibal, failed to stop at the stop sign while travelilng south on Veterans Road and collided with a van eastbound on Route MM driven by Rickey J. Thomas, 53, of New London.

Injured and taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital were the drivers and Deere's three passengers -- Trenton E. Forster, 14, Makenzie R. Morris, 15, and Jacob T. York, 13, all of Hannibal. Deere, Morris and Rickey were taken by Marion County Ambulance, and Forster and York were taken by private auto.

Police said only Deere and Morris were wearing seat belts.

Assisting were Marion County Sheriff's Department and the Hannibal Rural Fire Department.
