A big fourth quarter was just what the Griggsville-Perry boys basketball team needed.
Trailing 42-30 heading into the final quarter of Thursday's pool-play game against Roxana in the Carrollton Holiday Tournament, the Tornadoes rattled off 31 points to cap off a 61-59 victory.
Dryden Craven scored 12 of his game-high 21 points in the final period. Isaac Whitaker scored all nine of his points in the quarter as well.
Griggsville-Perry trailed 27-20 at halftime after Roxana's Matt Hartnett scored 12 of his team-high 20 points in the first half.
Levi King and Matthew Kennedy scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, for Tornadoes (3-8).
Griggsville, seeded fifth in the eight-team tournament, is 2-0 in pool play and plays its final pool-play game at 4:35 p.m. Friday against No. 8 Greenview.
Quincy High School 67, Jefferson City 54: A strong start in the second half led to a victory for the Blue Devils at the State Farm Holiday Tournament in Jefferson City, Mo.
QHS trailed 32-30 at halftime but played well in the third quarter, holding Jefferson City to six points while scoring 18 of their own to take a 48-38 lead heading in to the fourth quarter.
The Blue Devils outscored Jefferson City 19-16 in the final period to ice the win, its fourth straight.
Arai'ya Dade led QHS (8-5) with 19 points. Hannah Reller chipped in 12 and Jordan Fletcher and Angel Bradford added 10 apiece. Reller, Fletcher and Anna Stack had six rebounds each.
State Farm Holiday Classic: Central-Southeastern dropped two games in Bloomington-Normal, falling first to Rock Island Alleman 41-19 and then losing to Sterling Newman 40-30.
The Lady Panthers were limited to single digits in the first three quarters against Alleman, managing just seven points in the first half.
Alleman, meanwhile, scored 10 and 15 points, respectively, in the first and second quarters.
Erin Flesner scored six points to lead the Lady Panthers (4-9).
Against Sterling Newman, the C-SE was held to five points in the first quarter and trailed 23-17 at halftime.
Torie Conover led C-SE with nine points.
Central Superduals: Quincy Notre Dame went 2-1, posting victories over Illini West (54-15) and Rochester (49-12) and falling to Peoria Notre Dame (48-28).
Gage Stephens picked up three victories at 138 pounds. He pinned Aaron Gonzalez of Peoria Notre Dame in 41 seconds and pinned Jasper Capriotti of Rochester in 1:55. Stephens picked up the other win by forfeit.
Jeffrey Haley earned victories at 195 and 220, pinning Jeffrey Ufkes of Illini West in 1:30 and Nick Siciliano of Rochester in 1:10. Haley also earned a win by forfeit.
QND's Dolan Eickelshulte notched two victories at 145. He pinned Cameron Gresham of Illini West in 2:19 and then pinned Brian Baggs of Rochester in 2 minutes.
Blake Schutte also earned two wins for the Raiders. At 160, Schutte pinned Sam Stone of Illini West in 3:18. Wrestling at 170, Schutte then pinned Gabe Hebemstreierteitz of Rochester in 1:20.
