William and Mary Wellman

William and Mary Lou Wellman of 9433 White Oak Road, Liberty, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Jan. 5 in the Knights of Columbus North Hall. The event will be hosted by their children and grandchildren. Family and friends are invited.

Mr. and Mrs. Wellman were married Jan. 5, 1963, in St. Francis Catholic Church.

Mrs. Wellman is the former Mary Lou Mock, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Mock. Mr. Wellman is a son of the late Ray and Clara Wellman.

They are the parents of Bob and Angie Wellman, Kent Wellman, and Peggy and Cliff DeVerger, all of Quincy, Cheryl and Scott Atwood of Van Horne, Iowa, Mike and Lesia Wellman of Fowler, and Gary and Kristi Wellman of Tipp City, Ohio. They have 15 grandchildren.

Mr. Wellman retired from farming and Mrs. Wellman is a homemaker.

They are members of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Cooper, a golden doodle, is teacher Erin Armbruster's trained therapy dog, and his pawprints reach beyond just her classroom. "He helps out the students. He's a very good dog," fifth-grader Myles Cain said.
