Monroe City woman hurt in collision

MONROE CITY, Mo. -- A Monroe City driver was hurt in a car-truck accident at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. 36, two miles east of Monroe City.

Patricia J. Swon, 58, was taken by Monroe City Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Swon was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala east when it began to slide on a frost-covered highway and slid into trailer portion of an eastbound 1997 Freightliner driven by John E. Hernandez-Corea, 34, of Kansas City, Kan. Each driver was wearing a seat belt.

Assisting were the Marion County Sheriff's Department, Ralls County Sheriff's Department and the Monroe City Fire and Rescue.
