A Quincy woman has been arrested on charges of filing a false police report and obstructing justice in conjunction with an investigation into a criminal damage report.

The Quincy Police Department reports Bryonte N. Lewis, 26, of 624 S. 17th, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Friday on the class 4 felonies and lodged in the Adams County Jail.

On Jan. 8, QPD began investigating a criminal damage report filed by Lewis. Lewis reported to officers that her vehicle had been damaged and that she could identify the suspects involved. Lewis also provided additional witnesses to corroborate her report.

As the investigation progressed, one of the suspects identified by Lewis was arrested. Officers continued gathering information and evidence and determined that the individuals implicated by Lewis were not involved in the crime, QPD reported.
