Evidently voters in the Associated Press Illinois prep basketball poll weren't impressed by the Quincy Notre Dame girls basketball team's three wins to start the 2013 calendar year, all of which came by at least 35 points. Whatever the case, the Lady Raiders (14-0) dropped a spot in the Class 3A media poll released Tuesday afternoon.

QND is No. 3 in 3A, one spot behind Champaign Centennial. QND beat Centennial 47-43 on Dec. 21 and was ranked ahead of Centennial last week. Montini, the three-time defending 3A champion, maintained the No. 1 spot in 3A and received all nine first-place votes.

No other area teams were ranked. The Quincy High School boys received votes in Class 4A, while the QND boys received votes in 3A. The Payson Seymour boys received votes in 1A. The Unity girls received votes in 1A.

Here's a look at the complete polls.

In Case You Missed It

Therapy dog knows just what Baldwin students need
Cooper heads down the hallway in Baldwin West for another day of school. He's focused. He's friendly. He's furry. Cooper, a golden doodle, is teacher Erin Armbruster's trained therapy dog, and his pawprints reach beyond just her classroom. "He helps out the students. He's a very good dog," fifth-grader Myles Cain said.
