Scouting the Hornets: Since Dec. 1, the Hornets have gone 2-9 and endured an eight-game losing streak. Hinsdale South won its last game, beating Addison Trail 45-42, but will have an eight-day layoff before facing Quincy. Tempo will be critical. In three of the Hornets' four victories, they have failed to top 50 points. The other victory was a 71-70 win at home against Willowbrook.

Board the bus: Quincy will take the five-hour bus ride to the Chicagoland area for the first of two trips north this season. The Blue Devils are scheduled to play at Geneva on Feb. 2. The Blue Devils play five of their remaining nine games on the road.

The series: Quincy leads the all-time series 4-1.
