Prep wrestling Roundup: QHS notches two victories

The Quincy High School wrestling team picked up two victories Saturday in dual matches in Edwardsville, Ill.

The Blue Deils opened with a 61-11 victory over Peoria Central and also notched a win over Civic Memorial (54-24). QHS suffered one loss on the day, a 54-12 setback to host Edwardsville.

Picking up two victories for the Blue Devils were Trevor Schutte (106 pounds), Stephen Wallace (113), Garrad Straube (120), Matt Bilgri (145), Parker Schutte (152), Josh Culp (160), Dakota Downs (170), Logan Hagerbaumer (182), Jaydon Summy (195) and Damon Gibson (220).

Pirates take fifth: Hannibal finished fifth out of 10 teams at the Lafayette Tournament.

Hannibal went 2-2 in dual matches.

Pirate wrestler Chandler Fohey set the pin record after pinning one of his opponents in five seconds. Fohey won all five of his matches for the Pirates.

Winning four matches were Colby Collings, Tyler Janes and Kyle Muehring. Brant Dooley and Austin Janes picked up three wins apiece while Brad Dillman, Austin Hawes, Tyler Leake, Eli Ratliff and Harry Vessell each had two.
