Area Roundup: QND cruises into semifinals at Carrollton

Jordan Frericks scored a game-high 19 points to lead Quincy Notre Dame's girls basketball team to a 70-30 win over Granite City Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Carrollton Tournament.

Mary Beth Hugenberg and Kassidy Gengenbacher each finished with 13 points.

The Lady Raiders (15-0) are tied for second in the Class 3A state rankings.

Bowling Green Tournament: Denise and Batrice Blackwell each scored 12 points to lead Louisiana to a 53-29 win over Van-Far in a consolation semifinal game.

Morgan Murray added 10 points for the Bulldogs.

In the other consolation semifinal, Mark Twain cruised past Winfield 47-19. Mackenzie Grossman led all scorers with 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Mark Twain and Louisiana will meet in consolation championship Friday at 4:30 p.m.
