Hannibal man arrested for striking policemen

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- A 35-year-old Hannibal driver was arrested early Tuesday morning after an incident in which he allegedly struck two police officers while they were trying to place him under arrest.

At 12:08 a.m. Tuesday, Hannibal police officers arrested a male driver. During the course of the arrest, the driver resisted and struck two male officers with his fists, one in the head, according to Hannibal Police Lt. John Zerbonia. The man was subdued and arrested on additional charges.

Gary L. Haynes, 35, was taken into custody on suspicion of interfering with arrest by fleeing, driving while intoxicated and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer. He was lodged in the Marion County Jail pending the issuance of arrest warrants.
