College basketball preview: Quincy University men at Rockhurst

Scouting the Hawks: Rockhurst, which is coming off a 77-59 loss Thursday to Illinois-Springfield, beat Quincy 72-70 on Jan. 24 at Pepsi Arena behind 20 points from Brandon McCann. Rockhurst shot 53.8 percent from the field in that game, including 12 of 19 (63.2 percent) from 3-point range.

McCann, a 6-foot-1 junior guard out of Bowling Green, Mo., averages a team-best 12.6 points per game. James Robinson, a 6-2 junior guard, is supplying 10 points per game. Rockhurst is last in the 16-team Great Lakes Valley Conference in scoring (60 ppg), last in field-goal percentage (40.4 percent) and 15th in field-goal percentage defense (47.5 percent).

Face of consistency: QU junior guard Chris Babbitt continues to be a face of consistency for a team that largely has been marked by inconsistency. Babbitt scored a career-high 27 points on 13-of-19 shooting during QU's 56-55 win Thursday at William Jewell. He's reached double figures in scoring in 15 of his last 16 games and has scored at least 13 points in 13 of his last 14 games. He's scored at least 13 points in 12 of his last 13 games. Babbitt is shooting 49.5 percent from the field in his last 16 games and 47.9 percent for the season.
