The Western Illinois Amateur Radio Club will offer free introductory amateur radio classes on three consecutive Saturdays beginning Saturday, Feb. 23, and concluding March 9. The class is open to all ages, and no prior knowledge or experience is required. The classes will provide the necessary instruction leading to the Technician Class FCC Amateur Radio License.

Classes will meet at the Adams County Red Cross in Quincy at 3000 N. 23rd St. Each session will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Instruction will be provided by a team of experienced amateur radio operators that belong to the ham radio club.

The study guide will be "The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual," and will be available from the instructors at a cost of $25. The FCC written examination for the Technician Class License will be given at the end of the March 9 session. The testing fee is $15.
