William and Norma Jean Dorris

William "Bill" and Norma Jean Dorris of Canton, Mo., will mark their 65th wedding anniversary with a small gathering Feb. 20 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, Mo., hosted by their daughter, Sally Dorris.

Mr. Dorris and the former Norma Jean Hockett were married Feb. 20, 1948, in the First Methodist Church in Piggot, Ark.

Mrs. Dorris is a daughter of the late Ike and Ollie Hockett. Mr. Dorris is a son of the late William and Ethel Dorris.

They are the parents of Mike Dorris of Mary Esther, Fla., Glenn (Marleece) Dorris of Littleton, Colo., and Sally Dorris of Palmyra. They have three grandsons.

Mr. Dorris retired as owner/dealer of the Lewis County Motor Co. in Canton. His clubs/activities include church choir, on the board of the Great River Boy Scout Council and American Legion Post 170.

Mrs. Dorris retired after 20 years as a fifth- and sixth-grade science teacher for the Canton R-5 School District. Her clubs/activities include the Missouri State Retired Teachers' Association, PEO and Order of the Eastern Star.

They are members of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton.

The couple met in high school in 1944.
