Nearly 1,000 Ameren customers lose power Thursday night in Adams, Brown, Hancock counties

A power outage Thursday night left 993 Ameren customers in Adams, Brown and Hancock counties without electricity.

The cause of the outage was not immediately known.

According to Ameren's website (, 896 of the affected customers were in Adams County while 96 were in Brown County and one was in Hancock County.

The website showed 491 affected customers in the Camp Point ZIP code, 377 in Clayton, 87 in Timewell, 28 in Golden, nine in Mount Sterling and one in Warsaw.

No other information was immediately available.
