Quincy Mayor John Spring issued a press release at 3:56 p.m. Monday, declaring a snow emergency for the city until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.

The snow emergency applies to the designated snow routes with the blue signs. Vehicles must be moved off those designated routes. Vehicles that are not moved are subject to being ticketed and/or towed once there are three inches of snow. People face a potential $25 fine.

Quincy Police Chief Rob Copley said the city did not issue any tickets during the snow emergency last week, because it was issued after many cars were already plowed in on streets.

Quincy public and parochial school classes have been canceled for Tuesday.
