Maddy Cunningham scored 23 points and Ashleigh Spencer added 11, but that wasn't enough to power the Hannibal-LaGrange University women's basketball team to a victory in its quarterfinal game of the American Midweset Conference Tournament on Wednesday. The fifth-seeded Lady Trojans lost 59-54 to No. 4 Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Ark.

Cunningham was 7 of 17 from the field, including 3 of 8 from 3-point range.

HLGU (15-15) led 25-21 at halftime. The Lady Trojans were plagued by 24 turnovers. Morgan Winkler tallied eight points and six rebounds for HLGU off the bench. Sharonda Brabson led Williams Baptist (17-14) with 14 points.

Silver Saukees: Pittsfield's state title team to reunite after 25 years
Tony Baker recently watched a video of the 1991 Class A state championship game with his 11-year-old daughter. It had been several years since Baker, an all-stater as a senior at Pittsfield High School, had seen the game. "I sure was awful skinny, and those shorts were awful short," he said with a laugh. "But it was neat to watch. It's kind of a blur, but I can remember plays that were called in every game. It's so surreal."
