Quincy residents will have a chance to hear from candidates for mayor and city treasurer at a forum this week.

The event, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Adams County, will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, in the Quincy University North Campus Auditorium, 18th and Seminary Road. The 18th Street doors will be open to the public at 6:30 p.m.

Mayoral candidates are incumbent John Spring and Republican challenger Kyle Moore. Treasurer candidates are incumbent Peggy Crim and Republican challenger Tom Ernst. They will respond to questions from a three member panel: Brian Borlas of Quincy University, Matt Hopf of The Quincy Herald-Whig, and Carol Sowers of KHQA. This will be followed by written questions submitted by members of the audience.

Iris Nelson, a board member and past president of the League of Women Voters, will serve as moderator.

The Quincy Herald-Whig will provide live video streaming of the forum at www.whig.com/live.

The election will be on April 9.

Silver Saukees: Pittsfield's state title team to reunite after 25 years
Tony Baker recently watched a video of the 1991 Class A state championship game with his 11-year-old daughter. It had been several years since Baker, an all-stater as a senior at Pittsfield High School, had seen the game. "I sure was awful skinny, and those shorts were awful short," he said with a laugh. "But it was neat to watch. It's kind of a blur, but I can remember plays that were called in every game. It's so surreal."
