Culver-Stockton's softball team split their final two games Saturday at the Evangel University David Fillmore Memorial Softball Tournament in Springfield, Mo.
The Wildcats (3-6) beat Stephens College 10-2 in five innings and lost to Greenville (Ill.) College 4-3.
The Panthers scored two runs off C-SC freshman pitcher Sam Bolin in the top of the seventh to earn the win.
Whitney Birk had three hits and an RBI and Rhea Hobson also drove in a run.
Against Stephens, Casey Polak had a three-run double, Bailey Gengenbacher drove in two runs. Kristy Obert picked up the win and struck three.
Lewis University 8-2, Quincy University 1-1: Offensive struggles led to the Lady Hawks being swept by the Lady Flyers.
QU (7-12, 2-4 GLVC) was limited to six hits in the first game, with Lewis University scoring seven runs in the first three innings to gain control.
Lady Hawks pitcher Lauren Francis had QU's lone RBI in the first game and finished with seven strikeouts.
Game two featured stronger pitching, with the Lady Flyers needing extra innings to eke out a 2-1 win.
Lady Hawks sophomore pitcher Wendy Macias pitched 7 2/3 innings and struck out six batters, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits.
QU took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning when Alanna Viken doubled in Ashleigh Roscetti.
Lewis tied the game in the seventh inning and won the game in the eighth when Jayme Hefler scored on a wild pitch.
Culver-Stockton splits: The Wildcats split a pair of games against Benedictine.
Craig Bastert helped C-SC win the first game by pitching a complete game and striking out three to guide the Wildcats to a 6-1 win. Cody Jacobson went 2-for-4 at the plate for C-SC.
In game two, the Wildcats took a 3-1 lead before allowing four runs in the third inning of a 6-3 loss. Gene Nanney drove in two runs for C-SC in the loss.
Lyon 9-5, Hannibal-LaGrange 1-4: The Trojans dropped both games Saturday against the Scots, allowing Lyon College to earn a four-game series sweep in Batesville, Ark.
Travis Mundahl had HLG's lone RBI in the first game. Ian Sikes also picked up two hits for the Trojans (4-11, 1-5 American Midwest Conference).
Junior pitcher Derek Allen took the lost, allowing nine runs on 11 hits in six innings. The Trojans outhit Lyon College (22-5, 8-0) 10-7 in the second game, but couldn't find enough runs to win.
Andrew Pollard had three hits and scored two runs in the second game for HLG.
QU Crossover: The Hawks concluded the 2013 Quincy Crossover with a 23-25, 28-26, 25-23, 26-24 loss to Lees-McRae Saturday at Pepsi Arena.
Jack Gamache had 12 kills and 11 digs, while Brian Peth finished with 17 digs and Chris Lynch dissed out 41 assists for the Hawks (9-13).
Ian Lawson led QU's offense, hitting .257 with 15 kills and five digs.
HLG drops two: The Trojans (6-16) lost to Cardinal Strich University 17-25, 24-26, 25-21, 17-25 and Warner University 17-25, 17-25, 14-25 at the Cardinal Stritch Tournament in Milwaukee, Wisc.
Jake Wollenberg led the Trojans with 22 kills against the Wolves and Kristen Clero had 36 assists.
