PALMYRA, Mo. -- A one-car accident at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 61 injured a Palmyra driver.

Laura S. Glascock, 52, was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., for treatment of minor injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1989 Buick Park Avenue was backing up on the shoulder on U.S. 61, two miles north of Palmyra, when it struck a mailbox, and crossed the median and the northbound lanes. The car then traveled over an embankment on the east side of the road, eventually coming to rest at the base of the embankment.

The driver was wearing a seat belt.
