CAMP POINT, Ill. -- The cause of the fire that destroyed a house under construction north of the Kellerville Blacktop Sunday night is undetermined, a state fire marshal ruled Monday.

Brian and Shawn Hodges had been working on the house for their mother for nearly a year and were at the drywalling stage, according to a neighbor. The structure was insured and plans are to rebuild.

Nearly 50 volunteers firefighters from Central Adams at Coatsburg, Camp Point and Liberty were dispatched to the scene and found the structure engulfed in flames when they arrived about 9 p.m. Sunday. They were on the scene for several hours. No one was injured.

The structure is on the County Highway 11, commonly known at the Camp Point Blacktop, one-quarter mile north of the Kellerville Blacktop. The structure was in a wooded area off the west side of the road. Recent snows and rains made the area muddy and soft, causing two fire trucks to get mired in the mud. A nearby farmer came to the pull out the trucks.
